A dealer's review

Who wrote this Omega and Homecrest review?

This review comes from the showroom floor at Seacoast Cabinet, a family-owned cabinet showroom in Rowley that Frank LeBlanc has run since 2019. We are an authorized dealer for four MasterBrand lines: Mantra, Homecrest, Mid Continent and Omega. Homecrest and Omega are the two our North Shore and Southern NH customers compare most.

We sell both lines, and our rule is the same one on our Omega page: we would rather sell you the right tier than the expensive one. Below you will find published prices, real lead times, door styles, warranty terms and what our customers say, followed by a short quiz that points you to a line.

Quality

Are Omega and Homecrest cabinets good quality?

Yes, both are well-built American cabinets, and both come out of MasterBrand, the largest residential cabinet maker in the United States. The difference is what comes standard and how far each line bends to fit a room.

Are Omega cabinets good quality?

Omega is one of the strongest semi-custom lines built in America. Dovetail drawer boxes, soft-close hardware and premium finishes are standard on every cabinet, where many brands in this price range charge extra for at least one of them.

Omega also offers both framed and frameless full-access construction. Its finish library includes glazed and distressed options and runs well past what most semi-custom brands offer. Because finishes stay consistent batch to batch, a vanity ordered two years after the kitchen still reads as the same cabinet.

Are Homecrest cabinets good quality?

Homecrest is a solid semi-custom line with soft-close hardware as standard and a limited lifetime warranty. It is the line we recommend most often, because it gives a furniture-grade look on standard cabinet widths without premium-tier pricing.

Where Homecrest runs out is sizing and specialty work. A run that has to land on a width the standard sizes do not cover, or a kitchen with inset doors throughout, usually moves up to Mid Continent or Omega.

Reviews

What do Omega and Homecrest reviews say?

Omega customers tend to talk about build quality. Across all four lines, the thing our reviews mention most is a kitchen finished ahead of schedule. Keep one thing in mind while you read brand reviews online: the same cabinet can be measured, ordered and installed well or badly, and most reviews are really about that experience. Seacoast Cabinet holds a 4.9 star rating on Google. Here is what a few of our customers wrote.

★★★★★

"We are so happy with our Omega cabinets! They are beautiful and very well made. Everyone who walks into our kitchen is wowed! It was a pleasure to work with Frank and his team."

E. Gieryn, Google review
★★★★★

"Everything from design, price, service, and quality was on point. And being a veteran, I appreciate that their products are made in the USA. Highly recommend!"

S. Dumont, Google review
★★★★★

"We've done lots of projects around our house, but none have been as smooth and worry-free as the kitchen we did with Frank and his team. They have a perfect combination of product line, design talent and customer focus to ensure that our project came out perfectly. A great company!"

Cost

How much do Omega and Homecrest cabinets cost?

On the same sample kitchen layout, cabinets only, Homecrest starts at $8,600 and Omega starts at $12,100. That puts the entry point for Omega $3,500 above Homecrest Arbor and $1,600 above Homecrest Sedona. Most cabinet showrooms will not put a number on a webpage. We do, because a real starting point makes the decision easier.

Homecrest starting prices

Arbor, recessed panelfrom $8,600
Sedona, flat-panel slabfrom $10,500

Omega starting prices

Blair, Shaker profilefrom $12,100
Kentwood, detailed profilefrom $18,500

Four things move your number: the size of the kitchen, the door style, the finish, and how many modifications the room needs. A galley kitchen and an open plan with an island are not the same job. Hardware and countertops are separate. For context, Mantra starts at $5,200 on the same layout.

You can run the same layout across every line with our cabinet budget planner, which also prices out countertops.

Lead times

How long do Omega and Homecrest cabinets take?

Homecrest takes 5 to 8 weeks and Omega takes 9 to 12 weeks, counted from the day your order is placed to the day the cabinets land at your home. Custom modifications and specialty finishes push Omega toward the longer end.

Design, measuring and approvals happen before that clock starts, and installation happens after it. Once we have your layout, we give you dates in writing before anything is ordered. If you are working toward a closing date or a rental turnover, Mantra ships in 2 to 4 weeks. You can see every step on our design process page.

Styles and finishes

Which door styles and finishes can you get?

Both lines cover the Shaker, slab and inset doors most New England kitchens use. Omega goes further, with detailed profiles, glazed and distressed finishes, and frameless full-access boxes for modern kitchens.

Homecrest

We keep two Homecrest collections on display. Arbor is a recessed-panel door that works in traditional, transitional and farmhouse kitchens, shown in finishes like Terrain and Trellis. Sedona is a flat-panel slab for clean, modern lines, shown in Anchor and Natural.

Omega

Our Omega displays include Blair, a Shaker profile, and Kentwood, a more detailed door, in cherry, maple and walnut samples. Inset doors sit flush inside the face frame and are often the first detail people notice in an older home.

Finishes look different under real light than on a screen. See more finished kitchens in our inspiration gallery or our guide to kitchen cabinet styles.

Showroom

Where can you see Omega and Homecrest side by side?

Our Rowley showroom has working Omega and Homecrest displays, about ten minutes up Route 1 from downtown Newburyport. Compare wood finishes and door styles in person, open the drawers, and test the soft-close hardware on both lines.

North Shore homes

Which line fits an older North Shore or Southern NH home?

Start with your layout, not your budget. If the kitchen has a chimney chase, out-of-square walls, a sloping floor or a run that does not land on standard cabinet widths, Omega or Mid Continent will save you compromises. If the layout is straightforward, Homecrest gets you a very similar look for less.

Take a galley kitchen in a 1920s Newburyport colonial with a window four inches off center. Omega's reduced-depth boxes and custom fillers let the design follow the house. A newer home in Haverhill or Salem, NH with standard walls rarely needs any of that, and Homecrest does the same job. Most kitchens built after about 1980 work with standard widths.

Before you order, our paid design service can show your actual kitchen in Omega and Homecrest side by side. If you cannot get to Rowley, we run the same session through virtual design.

The other two lines

Where do Mid Continent and Mantra fit?

Mid Continent Signature sits between Homecrest and Omega, and Mantra sits below Homecrest. Some homeowners who start out comparing Omega and Homecrest end up with one of these instead.

  • Mid Continent Signature is semi-custom with heavier construction and quarter-inch sizing. It is worth the extra weeks, 7 to 9 in total, when a run has to hit an exact width but you do not need Omega's finish range.
  • Mantra is our value line and the fastest, at 2 to 4 weeks. Mantra Classic starts at $5,200 and Mantra Spectra at $6,700 on the same sample layout. It suits rentals, quick refreshes and tight closing dates.

Cabinet line matcher

Which cabinet line matches your kitchen?

Answer four questions and we will point you to the line we would start with. It takes about thirty seconds, and nothing is sent anywhere.

1. What is your kitchen layout like?
2. Which door look do you want?
3. When do you need the cabinets?
4. What is your cabinet budget for a typical kitchen?

The short rule: tricky layout or specialty doors point to Omega or Mid Continent. A standard layout points to Homecrest. Under five weeks or under $8,600 points to Mantra.

Questions

What do homeowners ask about Omega and Homecrest?

  • Omega is worth it when your room needs what only Omega does: custom sizing around odd walls, inset doors throughout, a glazed or distressed finish, or dovetail drawers as standard. On a straightforward layout, Homecrest gives you a very similar look for $3,500 less at the starting point, and we will tell you so.

  • Both are made in the USA by MasterBrand Cabinets, the same manufacturer behind Mid Continent and Mantra. Domestic production keeps schedules steady and quality consistent. Read more in our guide to American-made vs imported cabinets.

  • We publish starting prices rather than a full price list, because every kitchen prices differently. On our sample layout, cabinets only, Homecrest Arbor starts at $8,600, Homecrest Sedona at $10,500, Omega Blair at $12,100 and Omega Kentwood at $18,500. Your quote comes from your actual layout and selections.

  • Both carry a MasterBrand limited lifetime warranty. Omega's terms, for example, cover defects in materials and workmanship for the original purchaser in the original installation, and exclude normal wear, damage from moisture or misuse, and natural variation in wood color and grain. We hand you the current written terms for your line with your order.

  • Yes. You could put Omega in the kitchen and a more affordable line in a bathroom vanity or laundry room. Omega also makes vanities, linen towers and built-in storage, so a bath can match an Omega kitchen you already own.

  • Our showroom at 300 Newburyport Turnpike, Unit 3, Rowley, MA 01969 has working displays of both lines. Hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. Schedule a visit or call 978-350-1040. We serve homeowners across the North Shore and Southern NH, including Ipswich and Rowley.
